Two days after my husband and I tied the knot, a Facebook invitation that said I’m married to Ross Wade prompted, waiting for my confirmation.

Updating Facebook statuses from single to married is not uncommon.  According to an online survey made by David’s Bridal, nearly half the number of brides changed or would change their Facebook relationship statuses in between the ceremony and the reception.Her Wedding Planner

Unbelievable, yet it’s true.  In the midst of emotional exchange of vows, first kiss as husband and wife and the hustle and bustle of the wedding reception and photography sessions, newly-wed brides unearth their smartphones to digitally inform everyone that they have crossed over from Ms. to Mrs.

It just shows that there are two kinds of people in Facebook:  whom you see constantly in your newsfeed and whom you don’t.  Those you see constantly updating everyone their daily activity would definitely update their Facebook accounts in a jiffy.   Even probably blog their honeymoon from day 1 through series of uploaded photos and “What’s on your mind?”  The other group would just surprise you of the slight change of their family name, statuses and a newly created album that documented their special day (I definitely am one of the latter group).

In view of newly wedded couples posting their engagement photos, Michael Wesch, Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology said: “If it’s not in Facebook, it seems like it didn’t happen.”

For me, whether you think of digitally documenting your special day or not, we have our own way of announcing to everyone that yes, I’m married and in-love!
